Working at Platos has been a great first job. You learn a lot, not just about fashion and clothes, but also about customer service, and respecting others. It is great when you get a respectful customer that understands the buy process. But you get a few a day that will lash out on you for not taking their clothes, or pricing them too low. People should be grateful there is a place like Platos Closet where you are able to take your items and sell them.

People should be grateful when they take your items instead of being upset when they don't. Platos Closet is the one who is paying you for them, then using their money to tag, sensor, pay employees and then hope that the item will sell by the time it gets out on the floor. Management at Platos Closet has more to do than any other store I know. I know it typically depends on the store but when you work at one of the busier stores, you have more expected from you which makes your job so much harder.

Also I know a lot of the Sales Associates and Keyholders are very underpaid for how much work they are expected. The hardest part of the job is the customers and cleaning up after them. They do not respect the stores at all. Pros Good discount, great way to learn how to start working, makes you respect other customer service jobs.

The best part about Plato's Closet Portsmouth is the Owners. They are incredibly friendly and understanding bosses while also proactive and efficient in teaching employees new skills.

Pros Flexible scheduling and amazing managers. Cons unmotivated co-workers. Was this review helpful? Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. Report Share. Working for Platos Closet was my absolute favorite place I've ever been able to work for.

The management was amazing, always understanding, and very flexible with hours. At Plato's, we do a lot. People think it is a normal job, it's not. We do everything. We are second hand, but we are still in demand, our store is so busy. I am part of the management team. There is no "summary" of Plato's closet. A typical day at work is observing highest priority tasks and delegating tasks to sales associates, doing projects, buying items from customers, keeping the store neat, stocking the sales floor, tagging all the clothes that come in, back stocking items that come in, running reports, and opening or closing registers.

There is probably more I am forgetting. There is always something to do at Plato's. I have learned so much from Plato's, I grew so much as a person and appreciate every bit of the three years I have spent there. The hardest parts of my job are when we have to let people go and the slow turnover rate of management. Sitting in the same position for years has been hard, even though I love my job. My favorite part of my job is to make people happy.

Either customers or my coworkers. That means no stains, holes, fading, or excessive wear. Second, they typically only buy items that are currently in style and in season. Think of the clothes that you see at the mall. If your clothes closely resemble that then the chances of them buying your items are high. Or if you really want to get the most out of your visit I suggest calling the store in advance.

Their number can be found online through a Google search. Ask the associates what they are currently looking for and decide which pieces you want to bring accordingly. The worst thing that can happen is they tell you no, which will happen regardless. They rarely ever take all the clothes you bring in anyways. Definitely, expect some pieces to be rejected. Because at the end of the day, these are only tips of what clothing to bring in, but the decision is ultimately up to the stylist who will go through your items and their personal judgment.

After deciding which clothes you will bring into sell you will need to find the right bag to put them in. It may not seem important but the size and type of bag you choose to put your clothes in is actually a crucial step in the selling process.

You want to make sure the bag you choose is sturdy and the clothes fit in it nicely. This will make it easier for the associate to look through your clothes.
