What do motivated people look like
Ready to get motivated and become all you can be? Try some or all of these habits of extraordinarily motivated people and perhaps you too will find the courage to live a life of fulfilled dreams. It is their intrinsic desire to be their best selves and succeed that drives their motivation.
They are internally driven--not pushed--toward new adventures, the unfolding journey, and the possible outcomes--they relish challenging themselves, learning, and exploring. They objectively observe the successes and mistakes of others and learn from them instead of judging or comparing themselves. They don't waste their time with judgmental, gossipy people either.
They are willing to admit they made a mistake and apologize. They encourage feedback from others and use it to take steps in the right direction. Part 2 — Author: Scheherazade Perkins, M. In part one of this blog series , I outlined how managers need to get creative about motivating their employees without dangling the dollar in front of them. For many organizations, this is not a choice.
Constrained budgets and resources mean leaders NEED to find other ways of motivating their staff. I also promised to share with you ten traits of highly self-motivating people. Gail Cohen, lecturer, consultant, and author compiled a list of attributes that typify self-motivated individuals. Exemplify humility.
They are able to laugh at themselves, admit vulnerabilities, and take criticism. Strive for health in all aspects of their lives physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, and socially. As managers and leaders, it is our job to recognize and replicate these types of attributes throughout our organizations. The first signal is that the individual is a good fit for the job.
This habit is like two-for-the-price-of-one. Not only does it help you find your motivation, it also helps you live the good life. But, first you need to find your values.
With your values in hand, you can connect your daily work back to your values. For example, I value adventure, learning, and excellence. I lead an epic adventure.
When I work on a task that I might not otherwise enjoy, I find a way to learn something new. Better yet, I try to find somebody who can show me their favorite shortcuts or ways to do it better, faster, or cheaper. The simplest value that I connect to is excellence.
Just like there are some tasks that drain you and other tasks that excite you, there are people who drain you and people who catalyze you. First and foremost though, make sure that you are your own catalyst. Be a coach, not a critic. Instead, look for the wisdom. Instead ask yourself, How can I do better next time? Simply identify the people that somehow give you energy and help you find your mojo. Or someone who is not? Self-motivated people come from all walks of life.
They can be anyone who is driven with a clear purpose and equipped with a burning desire to achieve their dreams. And to achieve outstanding results in life, you need to develop the traits of a high self-motivated individual. You must choose to move on when others quit. You must work harder and dare to pursue your dreams when the rest of the world is still comfortably in their warm beds.
You must have a clear and purposeful goal rather than living your life aimlessly. So what are the traits of a self-motivated people and how can you become one? Consider these 10 traits below. First, self-motivated people are absolutely clear about what they want in life. They are goal-oriented and are driven by their purpose. You must find out why you do what you do if you want to be motivated.
Your purpose is the fuel that keeps you burning hot when you face difficulties and challenges. Imagine going through a weekend without having any purpose, what do you do? Boring, right? What if you have a purpose and you know what you want to get done during the weekend? Suddenly, you are motivated by your intent. You know what you want to do and you become purposefully motivated.
Thus, find out what are your goals and your dreams. Find out your purpose in life and you too, can become a self-motivated person. Knowing what you want out of your life is just the beginning. What you need to do next is to live your life according to your purpose.
Self-motivated individuals are driven most of the time because they have programmed what they want to achieve in their subconscious mind. You should do the same. Make your goals and your dreams your dominant thoughts. And so that you will think about them all the time. If you consistently think about enjoying life, watching a movie, and playing games, guess what, that will be exactly what makes your life. And if you constantly hold the thought of achieving your goals, living your dreams, and achieving great success, your outer world will show.
You become goal-oriented. You become more self-motivated and you will take action to achieve them. So be like all the highly successful people out there, hold the things you want long enough in your mind, and you will bring it to your life.
Another trait of self-motivated people is that they ignore the naysayers.
